What is Lip Augmentation?
Lip augmentation with injectable fillers can add volume for fuller, more defined lips. Additionally, it can be performed to address asymmetry, hydration, and fullness or restore lost volume to help the patient achieve their cosmetic goals. This procedure is a nonsurgical, quick treatment that can have you in and out of our office in mere minutes. Results typically last 6 - 12 months, depending on the type of filler that is used. If the patient has excess fat on another area of their body, a fat transfer usually provides the most natural results with the added benefit of minor liposuction to trim the body. At the patient's consultation, all the lip augmentation options will be presented, and together, the patient and medical provider will create a treatment plan. Visit Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates in Oklahoma City, OK, today to discover how lip augmentation could help you reach your aesthetic goals.
What are the Types of Lip Augmentation?
Fat Filler: Also known as fat transfer, fat deposits are harvested from the patient’s own body by means of liposuction. These collected fats are purified and reinstated with tiny syringes into the lips. The doctor will take the extra measure of reinstating the fat tissues, slowly layering the filler to reshape the lips to meet the patient’s aesthetic desires.
Injectable Filler: This is a popular way to enhance the lips in a nonsurgical manner. Fillers are made from substances that are found naturally within the body, such the hyaluronic acid, which is a molecule that attracts water for plumping and hydration. The result looks and feels completely natural. Fillers produce beautiful results that can last up to 1 year.

How is Lip Augmentation Performed?
First, you will have a topical numbing cream applied to the area. An ice pack may also be applied. This will make the procedure very comfortable. The substance will be injected using a small, fine needle directly into the lips by an experienced medical provider. You may need multiple treatments to achieve your desired results.
What Results Can I Expect from Lip Augmentation?
Injectable fillers require no anesthesia. However, a local numbing medication is used. After the procedure, the lips will be swollen, and there may be bruising present. This will go away after a few days, and the patient will instantly see the results of the treatment. It may take a few more weeks for the best results to show. We recommend applying ice to the area for the first few days to reduce swelling. Always use a soft garment, such as a towel, between your skin and the ice.
